Central serous retinopathy (CSR) is a pathologic condition characterized by swelling and elevation of retinal tissue near the macula due to accumulation of fluid between the photoreceptor outer segments and the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), often leading to detachment of the neurosensory retina. Also sometimes called central serous chorioretinopathy, the condition most often affects men 20 to 60 years of age, but it can also affect women. The disease is often unilateral and is self-limiting in about 60% of cases, but sometimes the retinal detachment persists, leading to damage to the RPE and the photoreceptors and resulting in vision loss. 3, record 12, English, - central%20serous%20chorioretinopathy

... a major container failure, into two or more pieces, at a moment in time when the contained liquid is at a temperature well above its boiling point at normal atmospheric pressure. A typical example is that of a propane tank engulfed in a fire. ... When the metal fails, the liquid is exposed to atmospheric pressure and is well above its boiling point. Under certain conditions this results in a violent explosion. Once containment is lost, the liquid inside the tank boils, since it is no longer under pressure, and gives the first two letters of the phenomenon - Boiling Liquid. As the liquid boils, vapour is formed. The specific volume of the vapour is much larger than that of the liquid, so there is expansion - Expanding Vapour. There is an Explosion because there is a shock wave and the container is torn apart. 1, record 63, English, - boiling%20liquid%20expanding%20vapour%20explosion

BLEVE. [...] 4, record 64, French, - mesures%20%C3%A0%20prendre%20en%20cas%20de%20fuite%20ou%20de%20d%C3%A9versement

The magnetic particle method is the most satisfactory method for finding surface and sub-surface defects. ... The basic principle of the method is that while magnetic flux lines are caused to flow in a part, the local disturbance at a flaw is detected by using a magnetic powder either dry, or preferably, as a suspension in a liquid. Ferroso-ferric oxide (magnetic oxide of iron, Fe3 04 is generally preferred to powdered soft iron although even iron filings will indicate the larger faults. 1, record 87, English, - powdered%20iron

A propeller the blades of which have been rotated so that the leading and trailing edges are nearly parallel with the aircraft flight path to stop or minimize drag and engine rotation. 2, record 96, English, - feathered%20propeller
Record number: 96, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The term "feathering" refers to the operation of rotating the blades of a propeller to an edge-to-the-wing position for the purpose of stopping the rotation of the propeller whose blades are thus feathered and to reduce drag. Therefore, a feathered blade is in an approximate in-line-of-flight position, streamlined with the line of flight. Some, but not all, propellers can be feathered. Feathering is necessary when an engine fails or when it is desirable to shut off an engine in flight. The pressure of the air on the face and back of the feathered blade is equal, and the propeller will stop rotating. If it is not feathered when its engine stops driving it, the propeller will "windmill" and cause drag. Another advantage of being able to feather a propeller is that a feathered propeller creates less resistance (drag) and disturbance to the flow of air over the wings and tail of the airplane. 3, record 96, English, - feathered%20propeller

3, record 96, French, - h%C3%A9lice%20en%20drapeau
