A small, pebble-like glassy object of earth material that has been melted by meteorite impact, splashed up into our atmosphere, and fallen to Earth again under gravity.

Tektites have been the subject of intense scientific scrutiny throughout much of the 20th century owing to their unknown and possibly extraterrestrial origins, but they are now recognized as having formed from the melting and rapid cooling of terrestrial rocks that have been vaporized by the high-energy impacts of large meteorites, comets, or asteroids upon the surface of the Earth.

Le tableau 1 présente l'impact de la fusion sur la valeur présente des profits de l'état stationnaire. C'est le gain de profit en pourcentage par produit pour les banques impliquées dans la fusion, et pour les concurrents. Par exemple, pour B=0; 05 et γ°=0, si deux banques fusionnent alors le profit de l'entité fusionnée sera supérieur de 6, 25 % au profit joint des deux banques.

OBS

«Fusionner» ne s’emploie pas à la forme pronominale. Ainsi on ne dit pas «Ces deux municipalités se sont fusionnées» mais plutôt «Ces deux municipalités ont fusionné». À noter que «amalgamer» dans ce sens est un anglicisme à éviter.

Il existe cependant une texture propre à plusieurs impacts : les couronnes réactionnelles autour du quartz. Ces couronnes semblent indiquer que le quartz est le minéral résistant le mieux à la fusion induite par un impact.

Les roches ayant fusionné lors d’un impact sont très uniformes dans leur composition mais très variables dans leur texture. Elles sont essentiellement composées de la roche cible, mais contiennent une quantité mesurable d’élément provenant de l’objet ayant causé l’impact.
