Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a minimally invasive weight loss procedure that uses an endoscopic suturing (stitching) device to reduce the stomach's size and volume by about 70%. ... For the right candidate, ESG may be a less invasive alternative to laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Both procedures reduce the stomach size, but [laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy] does so by removing part of the stomach, while ESG uses stitches to bring folds of the stomach together like an accordion (similar to sewing a dart to tailor clothing). 5, record 2, English, - endoscopic%20sleeve%20gastroplasty

To do a gastric bypass, the surgeon makes a small pouch, called a gastric pouch, in the upper part of the stomach. The pouch is about the size of an egg or golf ball. Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating. One role of GLP-1 is to prompt the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood glucose (sugar). GLP-1 in higher amounts also interacts with the parts of the brain that reduce appetite and signal a feeling of fullness. 1, record 10, English, - semaglutide

Gastric bypass is one common type of weight-loss surgery. During bypass surgery, the top of the stomach is changed into a small gastric pouch. A loop of your small intestine is cut, and one end of the loop is brought up and is connected to the gastric pouch. This connection is one anastomosis. The other end of the small intestine loop is reconnected to the small intestine, further down. This is another anastomosis. Food is then redirected to an area farther down in your digestive system. It bypasses the stomach. Because food will now bypass your stomach, your body does not absorb as many calories. 4, record 16, English, - Roux%2Den%2DY%20gastric%20bypass

For the first month or so of life, the ruminant is functionally a monogastric. The forestomachs are formed, but are not yet fully developed. If milk is introduced into such a rumen, it basically rots rather than being fermented. To avoid this problem in such young ruminants, suckling causes a reflex closure of muscular folds that form a channel from the esophageal orifice toward the omasum (the esophageal groove), shunting milk away from the rumen and straight toward the stomach where it can be curdled by rennin and eventually digested enzymatically. 4, record 29, English, - reticular%20groove

The inner surface of the stomach is lined by a mucous membrane known as the gastric mucosa. The mucosa is always covered by a layer of thick mucus that is secreted by tall columnar epithelial cells. Gastric mucus is a glycoprotein that serves two purposes: the lubrication of food masses in order to facilitate movement within the stomach and the formation of a protective layer over the lining epithelium of the stomach cavity. This protective layer is a defense mechanism the stomach has against being digested by its own protein-lyzing enzymes, and it is facilitated by the secretion of bicarbonate into the surface layer from the underlying mucosa. 3, record 40, English, - gastric%20mucosa

Benzatropine is an anticholinergic medication used for treating Parkinsons illness and related conditions such as parkinsonism, dystonia, and akathasia. Its effects have been shown to have an effective and significant therapeutic value in the management of the symptoms of parkinsonism. It counteracts the effects of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and balances the levels of acetylcholine and dopamine in the body, which may help reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's illness in its early stages. It can also be used to treat movement disorders resulting from the use of other antipsychotic medication. Aside from its anticholinergic effect, doctors have also observed an antihistaminic activity approaching that of pyrilamine maleate. 2, record 65, English, - benzatropine

3, record 69, French, - pepsine

The prerequisite for glasses and glass-ceramics to bond to living bone is the formation of biologically active bonelike apatite on their surfaces in the body. Our previous study showed that a silica gel prepared by a hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane in aqueous solution containing poly(ethylene glycol) induces apatite nucleation on its surface in a simulated body fluid. In the present study, the effects of heat treatment of silica gel on its catalytic effects in apatite nucleation was investigated in a simulated body fluid. It was found that apatite forms on the surfaces of silica gels heat-treated below 800 C, but not on those heat-treated above 900 C. The volume of nanometer-range pores in the gel remarkably decreased by heat treatment above 900 C. The concentration of silanol groups in the silica gels gradually decreased with increasing heat treatment temperature. The rate of silica dissolution from the gel into the simulated body fluid decreased remarkably by heat treatment above 900 C. This suggested that a special type of silanol group which is formed by soaking the gel treated below 800 C into the simulated body fluid is responsible for apatite nucleation. 3, record 70, English, - simulated%20body%20fluid

3, record 76, French, - vaccination%20g%C3%A9n%C3%A9tique

[The] laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a cuff device that provides sufficient seal to allow for positive pressure ventilation to be delivered. It is particularly useful in maintaining an airway in anesthetized patients when endotracheal intubation is not desired or during emergency situations in which mask ventilation is not possible or intubation and/or ventilation fails. An LMA is a wide bore tube, with a connector at its proximal end (that can be connected to a breathing circuit) and with an elliptical cuff at its distal end. 1, record 99, French, - calcification%20m%C3%A9tastatique
