Grain founder is caused by ingestion of greater quantities of grain than can be tolerated by the horse... Signs of laminitis may occur suddenly in a horse that has been eating considerable quantities of grain as a daily ration, or the laminitis may result from accidental exposure of the horse to excessive amounts of grain, as when the horse gains access to open grain bins. The grains most commonly involved are wheat, corn, and barley... Changes in cecal lactic acid and endotoxin levels occur within 3 hours after carbohydrate overload and lameness is usually observed in 16 to 24 hours postingestion. 1, record 4, English, - grain%20founder

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 4, French, - fourbure%20suite%20%C3%A0%20une%20ingestion%20excessive%20de%20grain
