3, record 11, French, - film%20m%C3%A9tallis%C3%A9

Combustion Override Split Production Horizontal Well Process (COSH). The main feature of this process, developed by the Alberta Research Council (ARC), is implementation of gravity drainage using a basal horizontal well in a combustion process. The configuration of different wells is critical to the operation of this process. A linear configuration of vertical air injection wells is drilled and completed in the upper portion of the reservoir. A horizontal oil production well is completed in the bottom of the reservoir, aligned and positioned beneath the vertical injection wells. The reservoir is prepared for ignition and combustion is initiated at each of the injection wells. A hot fluid-transmissive chamber is formed around each of the injection wells as combustion proceeds. Combustion gas communication is established with the gas production wells. Heated oil and water, produced by the combustion front in each hot chamber, drains under the effect of gravity and is brought to the surface through the horizontal production well. 3, record 12, English, - combustion%20override%20split%20production%20horizontal%20well%20process

A heavy liquid ... with a sweetish, distinctive odor. It is a member of the large group of chlorinated hydrocarbons ... It is widely used as a solvent for heavy oils, crude rubber, and greases, as a cleaning agent for metal surfaces, as a fumigant, and in the manufacture of fluorocarbon refrigerants. Though noncombustible, it should not be used to extinguish fires, since one of its decomposition products is phosgene. 5, record 24, English, - carbon%20tetrachloride

... in many plants water availability is one of the most important factors limiting photosynthesis under natural conditions. Because water is lost from leaves through the same pores (known as stomata) that carbon dioxide enters, the plant must balance carbon dioxide uptake against water loss. Under conditions of limited water availability, the stomata restrict water loss, which exerts a strong control on the net rate of photosynthesis by limiting the availability of carbon dioxide within the leaf. 1, record 34, English, - carbon%20dioxide%20uptake

3, record 49, French, - ballon%20%C3%A0%20volume%20constant

Thermoacoustic refrigeration is a novel refrigeration process utilizing acoustic energy to produce heat pumping. The process uses standing acoustic waves in an enclosed cavity to generate the mechanical compression and expansion of a working fluid (gas in this case) needed for the cooling cycle. The technique has the potential for high efficiency operation without the need for cooling liquids or mechanical moving parts. 3, record 50, English, - thermoacoustic%20refrigeration

Thermoacoustics is the study of the thermoacoustic effect and the attempt to harness the effect as a useful heat engine. A thermoacoustic refrigerator uses the thermoacoustic effect to move heat with sound. … Thermoacoustic refrigerators … use inert gasses which are both readily available, inexhaustible, and completely environmentally benign! And, because they can utilize waste heat as an energy source, they are extremely environmentally friendly. In addition, since thermoacoustic refrigerators do not use the compressors, lubricants, sliding seals, and other gizmos present in vapor compression refrigerators, the thermoacoustic refrigerator should be more reliable. In fact, a heat driven refrigerator does not need any moving parts in the refrigeration cycle! Finally, since thermoacoustic systems tend to work at higher frequencies and at single frequencies, noise and vibration control is actually easier than for a conventional refrigerator - so thermoacoustic refrigerators should be even quieter than the refrigerators of today. 1, record 51, English, - thermoacoustic%20refrigerator

The Earth is surrounded by a blanket of air, which we call the atmosphere. It reaches over 560 kilometers (348 miles) from the surface of the Earth, so we are only able to see what occurs fairly close to the ground. ... Life on Earth is supported by the atmosphere, solar energy, and our planet's magnetic fields. The atmosphere absorbs the energy from the Sun, recycles water and other chemicals, and works with the electrical and magnetic forces to provide a moderate climate. The atmosphere also protects us from high-energy radiation and the frigid vacuum of space. The envelope of gas surrounding the Earth changes from the ground up. Four distinct layers have been identified using thermal characteristics (temperature changes), chemical composition, movement, and density [:] the troposphere ..., the stratosphere ..., the mesophere ..., the thermosphere. The exosphere starts at the top to the thermosphere and continues until it merges with interplanetary gases, or space.

1, record 65, French, - goutte%20d%26rsquo%3Beau

In fluidized beds and suspension gasification, there is continuous relative motion of the discrete solid particles, while in fixed bed gasifiers there is much slower stratified motion of the solid bed as a whole, generally downward by gravity. The gas can then pass either in the opposite direction to the fuel (updraft or counterflow gasifiers) ... or in the same direction (downdraft or coflow gasifiers) .... While fixed bed coal gasifiers are updraft, biomass gasifiers can be either updraft or downdraft, depending on the purpose for which the gas is to be used. Updraft gasifiers can use very wet wood, but because the pyrolysis products are immediately cooled, the gas contains up to 30% of tar and oil. 1, record 68, English, - updraft%20gasifier

2, record 71, French, - film%20%C3%A0%20support%20m%C3%A9tallisable

Design of Geotextiles Association with Geomembranes.... Geomembranes, used to line ponds, canals and dams, can be damaged by stresses caused by underpressures of liquids and gases or by mechanical actions. Since the first use of a geotextile associated with a geomembrane ... geotextiles have been increasingly used to drain liquids and gases beneath geomembranes and protect geomembranes from mechanical actions.... It is shown that geotextiles, used as filters or drains, do not have the drawbacks that granular materials, such as sand and gravel, have when they are in contact with geomembranes. 1, record 72, English, - geotextile%2Fgeomembrane%20association
