The League of Arab States (LAS) was founded in March 1945 by the Arab States being signatories to its convenient. Based in Cairo, LAS is a regional organization charged with the aims to strengthen bonds among member countries. Moreover, it aims to coordinate their policies to achieve cooperation and integration in the economic, financial, legal, social and cultural areas, as well as in health, commerce, communications, foreign policy and other fields of common interest. The member states are: Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; State of United Arab Emirates; State of Bahrain; Republic of Tunisia; People's Democratic Republic of Algeria; Republic of Djibouti; Kingdom of Sadi Arabia; Republic of Sudan; Syrian Arab Republic; Democratic Republic of Somalia; Republic of Iraq; Sultanate of Oman; State of Palestine; State of Qatar; Islamic Federal Republic of Comoro; State of Kuwait; Republic of Lebanon; Jamahiriya Libya Arab People's Greater Republic; Arab Republic of Egypt; Kingdom of Morocco; Islamic Republic of Mauritania; and Republic of Yemen. 5, record 1, English, - League%20of%20Arab%20States

La ligue des États arabes est née le 22 mars 1945 à Alexandrie. L'Égypte, l'Irak, le Liban, l'Arabie Saoudite, la Syrie, la Transjordanie et le Yémen(Nord) ont porté l'organisation sur les fonts baptismaux. Avec la fin de la domination coloniale, elle s’est élargie et compte désormais vingt et un membres : en plus des membres fondateurs, on trouve la Libye, le Soudan, la Tunisie, le Maroc, le Koweït, l'Algérie, les Émirats arabes unis, Bahreïn, Oman, la Mauritanie, la Somalie, Djibouti et les Comores, plus l'Organisation de libération de la Palestine(OLP) qui est membre à part entière depuis 1976. Le siège de la Ligue a été transféré du Caire à Tunis en 1979, après la signature du traité de paix israélo-égyptien.
