HYPERSENSIBILITE MEDIATION CELLULAIRE [4 records]

Record 1 2011-02-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
DEF

A type of hypersensitivity that (in contrast to immediate hypersensitivity) takes 24 to 72 hours to develop and is mediated by T lymphocytes rather than by antibodies.

OBS

Delayed hypersensitivity is a term used to denote the subset of type IV hypersensitivity involving cytokine release and macrophage activation, as opposed to direct cytolysis but can be used more broadly, even sometimes being used synonymously with type IV hypersensitivity.

Key term(s)
  • cell mediated hypersensitivity

French

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
DEF

Record 2 1996-02-07

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
CONT

Allergic reactions are cued by the overzealous response of the body's primordial defense against invasion, the inflammatory reaction. When a person is exposed to an allergen, be it dust, pollen or a particular food, the bloodstream sends a crowd of circulating white blood cells to the site of contact.

CONT

overzealous hypotensive reaction

French

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
CONT

CONT

réaction hypotensive exagérée

Record 3 1993-02-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
OBS

The scope of the term ("delayed hypersensitivity") is sometimes expanded to cover all aspects of cell-mediated immunity including contact dermatitis, granulomatous reactions, and allograft rejection.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
DEF

Record 4 1993-01-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
CONT

On initial contact with antigen, the T cell undergoes clonal proliferation and differentiates into sensitized lymphocytes or committed T cells with various functions. Some cells become activated and are responsible for mediating cellular immunity or resulting in injury to host tissue (hypersensitivity reactions). Others become T memory cells, thereby increasing the number of cells with the ability to react to specific antigen. Still others become helper or suppressor cells, regulating B cell production of antibody ...

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
CONT
