1, record 2, French, - exploitation%20mini%C3%A8re%20des%20ast%C3%A9ro%C3%AFdes

In situ sponge culture enables sponges to be grown continuously. Moreover, input requirements are relatively low, as the sponges consume nutrients available in the water column, without raw materials having to be added. At the same time, the bioremediation potential of sponges (filtering capacity, removal of bacterial and organic material) deducts around 5% of the total environmental impact. 1, record 8, English, - in%20situ%20sponge%20culture

1, record 8, French, - spongiculture%20in%20situ

Confocal microscopy. Unlike "normal" microscopy, only a spot of a minimum size in the specimen is illuminated in confocal microscopy. To enable an image to be formed from this, the specimen must be scanned. The image of the spot is directed through a pinhole stop in an intermediate image plane. As a result, only light from the focal plane can reach the detector (a photomultiplier). All other (out-of-focus) planes are blocked out. This results in an "optical section". The images are stored electronically and displayed on a monitor. A series of optical sections can be recorded by moving a motor a slight distance along the z-axis each time an image has been recorded, after which the next image is then also recorded. Such a z-series permits the electronic reconstruction of the three-dimensional structure using suitable computer programs. The procedure, which is restricted to incident-light techniques, has completely revolutionized fluorescence microscopy in biology in particular. 2, record 27, English, - confocal%20microscopy

Combustion Override Split Production Horizontal Well Process (COSH). The main feature of this process, developed by the Alberta Research Council (ARC), is implementation of gravity drainage using a basal horizontal well in a combustion process. The configuration of different wells is critical to the operation of this process. A linear configuration of vertical air injection wells is drilled and completed in the upper portion of the reservoir. A horizontal oil production well is completed in the bottom of the reservoir, aligned and positioned beneath the vertical injection wells. The reservoir is prepared for ignition and combustion is initiated at each of the injection wells. A hot fluid-transmissive chamber is formed around each of the injection wells as combustion proceeds. Combustion gas communication is established with the gas production wells. Heated oil and water, produced by the combustion front in each hot chamber, drains under the effect of gravity and is brought to the surface through the horizontal production well. 3, record 40, English, - combustion%20override%20split%20production%20horizontal%20well%20process

2, record 40, French, - combustion%20in%20situ%20avec%20puits%20de%20production%20horizontal

In 2011, AAFC [Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada]-STB [Science and Technology Branch of the National Agroclimate Information Service] built an in-situ sensor network where soil moisture and meteorological data are collected in agricultural landscapes within Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan over a total of 18 stations. To meet the objectives of various research projects, the RISMA system was designed to provide near-real time soil moisture and meteorological data. The field data is transmitted to an AAFC server on a timely basis. A Web segment of the sensor system is to be developed to enable data sharing based on Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards and it can be divided into two sections: 1) transferring the data from AAFC server to a Web server based on interoperable protocols, and 2) data visualization and distribution by serving the data to the public on a Web-based platform. 3, record 44, English, - Real%2Dtime%20in%20situ%20soil%20monitoring%20for%20agriculture

Bacteriophages are much more specific than antibiotics, so they can hypothetically be chosen to be indirectly harmless not only to the host organism (human, animal, or plant), but also to other beneficial bacteria, such as gut flora, reducing the chances of opportunistic infections. They would have a high therapeutic index, that is, phage therapy would be expected to give rise to few side effects. Because phages replicate in vivo, a smaller effective dose can be used. On the other hand, this specificity is also a disadvantage: a phage will only kill a bacterium if it is a match to the specific strain. Consequently phage mixtures are often applied to improve the chances of success, or samples can be taken and an appropriate phage identified and grown. 4, record 50, English, - phage%20therapy

3, record 50, French, - phagoth%C3%A9rapie

SCG specializes in environmental remediation and has focused on groundwater treatment and soil remediation through the development, manufacture, sale and distribution of environmental remediation equipment. For sites where free hydrocarbon product is present in the subsurface, the relatively new bioslurping technology may provide a timely and cost effective remedial solution. SCG has developed an advanced innovative remedial option in which light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs), hydrocarbon contaminated groundwater and volatile constituents in soil vapours are aggressively captured and subsequently treated in-situ via Multi Phase Vacuum Extraction and Treatment (MPVET). This system is suited for the capture of a full range of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminants (gasoline to heavy oils) and a variety of subsurface conditions (low permeability coupled with low hydraulic yield to moderate permeability coupled with high hydraulic yield). 1, record 68, English, - multi%2Dphase%20vacuum%20extraction%20and%20treatment

Sum Frequency Generation Spectroscopy (SFG) is a technique used to analyze surfaces and interfaces. This spectroscopy method utilizes sum frequency generation, where two light beams mix at a surface and generate an output beam with a frequency equal to the sum of the two input frequencies. From the experiment setup and the output beam, one can deduce the composition, orientation distributions, and some structural information of molecules on a surface. SFG has advantages in its ability to be monolayer surface sensitive, ability to be performed in situ (for example aqueous surfaces and in gases), and not causing much damage to the sample surface. 3, record 71, English, - sum%2Dfrequency%20generation

Air sparging is the process of injecting air directly into groundwater. Air sparging remediates groundwater by volatilizing contaminants and enhancing biodegradation. It is akin to blowing bubbles from a straw into a bowl of water. As the bubbles rise, the contaminants are removed from the groundwater by physical contact with the air (i.e., stripping) and are carried up into the unsaturated zone (i.e., soil). As the contaminants move into the soil, a soil vapor extraction system is usually used to remove vapors. 2, record 74, English, - air%20sparging

Tumors of the urinary collecting system (renal calyces, pelvis, ureter, bladder, and urethra). Since the entire urinary collecting system from renal pelvis to urethra is lined with transitional epithelium, its epithelial tumors assume similar morphologic patterns. They range from small benign papilloma to large invasive cancers. Large papillomas may develop, usually in the bladder, ranging from 1 to 3 cm in diameter. In these, the epithelium is generally somewhat atypical, with some variability in cell and nuclear size and some disarray in the cells' normal relationships to one another. It is this pattern that is called by some "an atypical transitional cell papilloma", whereas others call it a transitional cell carcinoma. 3, record 80, English, - transitional%20cell%20carcinoma

5, record 86, French, - carcinome%20lobulaire%20infiltrant

Selon la Cie Impériale Ltée - Esso, l’abréviation anglaise «RGIP» signifierait plutôt «remaining gas in place».

Carbonatation is a slow process that occurs in concrete where lime (calcium hydroxide) in the cement reacts with carbon dioxide from the air and forms calcium carbonate. Since carbonatation causes a lower pH (acidic) this may lead to corrosion of the steel reinforcing rods and damage to the construction. 2, record 99, English, - slow%20carbonatation%20process

1, record 99, French, - proc%C3%A9d%C3%A9%20de%20carbonatation%20lente
