A suit pleaded between two parties to determine a matter of claim or right, on which the action of a third party depends, esp. to determine to which of them livery or payment ought to be made.

CONT

Where a person under liability for any debt, money, goods or chattels, in respect of which adverse claims have been made against him by two or more persons, he may apply to the court for relief by way of interpleader.
