In photogrammetry, a map made from an image or image mosaic, usually overlaid with a grid or graticule, and cartographically enhanced to aid interpretation.

CONT

An image that has been processed to be like a map in appearance, scale, geometry, boundary, and projection with a degree of precision that satisfies the user. Measurements made from an image map yield results equal to those made from the corresponding planimetric, topographic, or other map. Similarly, either the image map or the conventional map can be overlaid and matched with the other.

It may be in hard or soft copy format and be capable of substituting a conventional map product.

A phase coded pulse modulation of the carrier frequency.

[A chirp is a] typical phase coding or modulation applied to the range pulse of an imaging radar designed to achieve a large time-bandwidth product. The resulting phase is quadratic in time, which has a linear derivative. Such coding is often called linear frequency modulation, or linear fm.

La modulation introduite sur le signal émis revêt deux fonctions distinctes visant à une meilleure interprétation du signal reçu. L'introduction d’un codage peut permettre de distinguer le signal acquis du bruit de fond ou d’émissions parasites(systèmes de brouillage). Une modulation linéaire en fréquence crée une sorte de variation Doppler artificielle, qui permet d’accroître la résolution en distance, grâce à un traitement approprié.
