Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
A kind of laser eye surgery designed to change the shape of the cornea to eliminate or reduce the need for glasses and contact lenses in cases of severe myopia (nearsightedness), [by lifting the epithelium and part of the deeper stroma layer]. 1, record 1, English, - laser%20assisted%20in%2Dsitu%20keratomileusis
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
In laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis ... the excimer laser and microkeratome are combined for vision correction; the microkeratome is used to shave a thin slice and create a hinged flap in the cornea, the flap is reflected back, the exposed cornea is reshaped by the laser, and the flap is replaced, without sutures, to heal back into position. 2, record 1, English, - laser%20assisted%20in%2Dsitu%20keratomileusis

1, record 1, French, - k%C3%A9ratomileusie%20in%20situ%20au%20laser

A kind of laser eye surgery designed to change the shape of the cornea to eliminate (or reduce) the need for glasses and contact lenses [by removing the outer layer of the cornea and flattening the cornea]. 2, record 2, English, - photorefractive%20keratectomy
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
[In photorefractive keratectomy (PRK)] the laser is used to remove the outer layer of the cornea and flatten the cornea. The flattening of the cornea is intended to correct myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism (uneven curvature of the cornea that distorts vision). PRK is an ambulatory procedure done in the office with numbing eye drops. It takes about a minute to do and about 3 days to heal. No eye patch need be worn after PRK. 2, record 2, English, - photorefractive%20keratectomy

A relatively new laser vision procedure that combines elements of PRK (photo-refractive keratectomy) and LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis). 2, record 3, English, - laser%20epithelial%20keratomileusis
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
This procedure uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea after lifting only the epithelium (top layer of the cornea), instead of the epithelium and part of the deeper stroma layer as done when creating a traditional LASIK flap. The excimer laser is then applied to the surface of the cornea in the same manner as PRK. 2, record 3, English, - laser%20epithelial%20keratomileusis

1, record 3, French, - k%C3%A9ratomileusis%20%C3%A9pith%C3%A9liale%20au%20laser
