The Laboratory, formerly the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] Marine Environment Laboratory, was established in 1961 in Monaco as part of the IAEA Department of Research and Isotopes and is the only marine laboratory within the United Nations system. It responds to regular requests for technical assistance from other United Nations agencies and programmes, such as the United Nations Environment Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Health Organization and the International Maritime Organization. Nevertheless, the promotion of nuclear and isotopic techniques and the improved understanding of marine radioactivity continue to be central to the Laboratory's work. 1, record 1, English, - Marine%20Environmental%20Studies%20Laboratory

1, record 2, French, - microscope%20%C3%A9lectronique%20%C3%A0%20projection

In a scientific context the term nanometrology can be interpreted quite broadly and has traditionally been used to describe approaches used in manufacturing technology, where very precise measurements are the foundations of the engineering industry. In recent years nanometrology has broadened its horizons and it now appears to encompass measurement of species or events on a nano-scale, which is a key part of modern detection science. These could be the measurement of distances up to 100 nm, such as features on a surface, or analysis of the interaction of two biological molecules. In terms of the analysis of events on a nano-scale this could be the interaction of two molecules or biomolecules leading to a significant outcome. 4, record 3, English, - nanometrology

2, record 4, French, - verre%20nucl%C3%A9aire

The work of construction ... is underground so that the site of the original museum will not be altered ... The underground areas, ca. 12,600 square meters, will house modern technological equipment, large conservation laboratories and other up to date technological services ... The problem is that the underground extension of the museum - built on three levels - almost borders the tunnel for the Metro. The building is in a water-bearing horizon near the Ilissos River and the vibrations from the Metro could cause cracks and thus water could enter the museum. 1, record 5, English, - underground%20extension

2, record 5, French, - extension%20souterraine
