Ruche utilisée en apiculture mobiliste. Au-dessus de la chambre à couvain se trouve une autre chambre à cadres mobiles, appelée la "hausse", destinée à recevoir l'excédent des provisions emmagasinées. Un toit imperméable abrite entièrement la ruche. Chambre à couvain et hausse sont séparées par une grille, qui empêche la reine d’entrer dans la hausse.
