Pole vault is a field event in which an athlete jumps over an obstacle with the aid of a pole. Pole vaulting for height became a competitive sport in the mid-19th century. Originally, it was just a means of clearing objects. Pole lengths vary between 3.05 m [meters] and 5.30 m. The standard run up distance for pole vault is 40 m with a width of 1.22 m. A standard landing cushion is 5 m by 5 m with a 25 m2 area. 2, record 1, English, - landing%20cushion

2, record 14, French, - cuve%20de%20d%C3%A9graissage%20sous%20ultrasons

Chinook is a Blackfoot word that translates to "snow eater", referring to, its ability to make winter snow packs vanish over a short time. The Chinook is a foehn wind; a generic term for all winds that have been warmed and dried by descent off a slope. The Chinook occurs over the front range of the Rocky Mountains and western plains of North America. They usually blow from the southwest to west and are quite strong, often 25-40 knots with gusts as high as 80 knots. Their effects are most strongly felt in southwestern Alberta where they funnel through the Crowsnest Pass before fanning out across southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. 3, record 15, English, - chinook

A tennis racquet is normally held at the end of the shaft called the "grip". The "shaft" is a long structural part of a tennis racket, stretching from the throat area all the way to the butt of the racquet. Only a part of the "shaft" is made for contact with the hand. This part is called the "handle". Nonetheless some authors have confused the issue by making "shaft" and "handle" synonyms by saying that new dampening materials have been incorporated in the "handle", when they really mean "shaft": "... features Head's Ultrazorb in the handle to dampen vibration and a new contoured grip for more secure feel". 5, record 34, English, - racket%20handle

Gold nanoshells are shuttled into tumors by the use of phagocytosis where phagocytes engulf the nanoshells through the cell membrane to form an internal phagosome, or macrophage. "SMED" or "single minute exchange of die" is a concept that says all changeovers (and startups) can and should take less than 10 minutes ... hence the phrase "single minute". 4, record 44, English, - single%20minute%20exchange%20of%20die

1, record 50, French, - glace%20cristalline

Pongal (in Tamil) is an Indian festival to give thanks for the harvest. Pongal in Tamil means 'boiling over'. It is traditionally celebrated at the time of harvest of crops and hence is a celebration of the prosperity associated with the event. Pongal is celebrated by all people in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. While Pongal is predominantly a Tamil festival, the same period also marks similar festivals celebrated in several other places under different names. In Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the harvest festival Sankranthi is celebrated. In northern India, it is called Makar Sankranti. In Maharashtra and Gujarat, it is the date of the annual kite-flying day, Uttarayan. It also coincides with the harvest festival in Punjab and Haryana, known as Lohri. 1, record 57, English, - Pongal

1, record 99, French, - glace%20amorphe
