[Air-cured resin-bonded solid lubricants consist] of a lubricating powder ... in an air-curing binder material. The lubricating pigment is usually mdybdenum disulfide ... The resin or binder serves only as a means of improving the adhesion of the powder to the surface to the lubricated. This type of solid film lubricant usually contains a lower total solid content than [the heat-cured type]. This reduction in solids results in a film with a shortened wear life.

The terms, "solid film lubricant", "bonded solid film lubricant" and "bonded solid lubricant" also refer to the liquid mixture which may be applied by spraying, brushing or dipping.

Corps gras. Les graisses consistantes sont des lubrifiants employés chaque fois qu’un lubrifiant liquide ne peut convenir (par exemple pour les roulements à billes). Elles sont en général constituées par des huiles minérales gélifiées par des savons : savons de calcium, de baryum, d’aluminium ou de lithium. L’acide gras et le métal constituant le savon influent considérablement sur les propriétés des graisses consistantes (point de fusion, résistance au cisaillement). L’hydroxystéarate de lithium donne des graisses consistantes très performantes.

A wire-drawing process in which the cleaned and pickled wire is drawn dry through a lubricant, as in the drawing of rods. By this process a highly polished surface is produced, and in steel wires the surface finish is known as lime-bright or bright.

CONT

The distinction between dry drawing and wet drawing is that in the latter process steel wire is immersed in a dilute solution of copper sulphate or stannous sulphate or in a mixture of these salts, and, then in fermented rye liquor. From this latter bath the wire is drawn in the wet state. Wet drawn steel wire may have a coppery surface produced by chemical replacement of copper by iron in the sulfate solution.
