En jumelant les symboles abréviatifs des nombres et les symboles des unités monétaires, on obtient des formulations fort utiles qui se répandent et qui, par uniformisation, obtiennent l’assentiment de plus en plus de gens, d’organismes et d’entités commerciales. Ex. : 15 k$ (ou kilodollars) pour 15 000 $; 15,5 M$ (ou mégadollars) pour 15 500 000 $; 15,5 G$ (ou gigadollars) pour 15 500 000 000 $; 1,5 T[symbole de l’euro] (ou téra-euros) pour 1 500 000 000 000. Il y a grand intérêt à s’inspirer de cette façon de faire dans les en-têtes des états financiers ou des colonnes. Une formulation telle que «k$» peut en effet remplacer avantageusement la représentation à l’anglaise «000» ou des expressions comme «en milliers de dollars» d’une longueur parfois embarrassante.
