À ce moment, les chefs de gouvernement se sont entendus pour que le Secrétariat du Commonwealth soit chargé de choisir pour ce jour spécial une date qui n’ aurait aucune connotation historique fâcheuse. Lors de la rencontre des hauts fonctionnaires à Canberra en mai 1976, la proposition canadienne de célébrer le jour du Commonwealth le deuxième lundi de mars a été adoptée. Jusqu'en 1977, il était d’usage au Canada de célébrer d’office le jour du Commonwealth en même temps que le Jour de Victoria(congé statutaire), aussi par proclamation la fête de la Reine. La célébration du jour du Commonwealth n’ impose aux pays membres aucun mode uniforme pour l'observation de cette journée, laissant cela à l'initiative de chacun des pays. Il ne s’agit pas non plus d’un congé statutaire. The Gore-Tex membrane is a patented composite made from two unique materials. One of the components is pure expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). This portion of the membrane contains nine billion pores per square inch. The pores are much smaller than a droplet of liquid water but much larger than a molecule of water vapor.
