The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. The birthday of the United States of America—Independence Day—is celebrated on July 4, the day the wording of the Declaration was approved by Congress. 1, record 8, English, - United%20States%20Declaration%20of%20Independence

Déclaration d’indépendance des États-Unis. [...]

A Duma is any of various representative assemblies in modern Russia and Russian history. The State Duma in the Russian Empire and Russian Federation corresponds to the lower house of the parliament. It is also the term for a council to early Russian rulers (Boyar Duma), as well as for city councils in Imperial Russia (Municipal dumas), and city and regional legislative bodies in the Russian Federation. The term comes from the Russian word (dumat), "to think" or "to consider". Boyar Duma was an advisory council to the grand princes and tsars of Muscovy. The Duma was discontinued by Peter the Great, who transferred its functions to the Governing Senate in 1721. However, the Duma would be re-introduced later in Russian history by Tsar Nicholas II, in the pre-Revolutionary period (1905), with the aid of his many advisors such as Pyotr Stolypin, amongst others. 1, record 9, English, - Duma

1, record 9, French, - Douma

The Glorious Revolution was the overthrow of James II of England in 1688 by a union of Parliamentarians and the Dutch stadholder William III of Orange-Nassau (William of Orange). It is sometimes called the Bloodless Revolution, although there was fighting and loss of life in Ireland and Scotland; many modern historians prefer the more neutral alternative Revolution of 1688. The Revolution is closely tied in with the events of the Nine Years War on the continent of Europe, and may be seen as the last successful invasion of England. It can be argued that James' overthrow began modern English parliamentary democracy; never again would the monarch hold absolute power. The deposition of the Catholic James II finally and firmly established Protestantism in England. 1, record 12, English, - Glorious%20Revolution

1, record 12, French, - Glorieuse%20R%C3%A9volution

The War of the Grand Alliance, also known as the War of the League of Augsburg, the Nine Years War, the Orleans War, the War of the Palatinian Succession, and the War of the English Succession, was a major war fought in Europe and Colonial America from 1688 to 1697, between France and the League of Augsburg - which, by 1689, was known as the "Grand Alliance" when England and others joined. The war was fought to resit French expansionism along the Rhine, as well as, on the part of England, to safeguard the results of the Glorious Revolution from a possible French-backed restoration of James II of England. 1, record 13, English, - War%20of%20the%20Grand%20Alliance

1, record 16, French, - R%C3%A9volution%20fran%C3%A7aise
