Dye lasers. Certain organic dyes are capable of fluorescing; that is, re-radiating light of a different colour. Though the excited state of their atoms lasts only a small fraction of a second and the light emitted is not concentrated in a narrow band, many such dyes have been made to exhibit laser action, with the advantage that they can be tuned to a wide range of frequencies. ... The definition of luminance is the visual effect of the radiance and is commonly used in measuring the relative brightness of various sources. Therefore, we can refer to the relative luminous efficiency curve for normal photopic vision, and the luminance of LED panel can be calculated. For normal visual effect, at the peak sensitivity of the eye (555 nm) one watt of radiant energy equals 680 lumens (lm) by definition. The watt is a radiometric unit whereas the lumen is a photometric unit. At any other wavelength, this conversion is scaled by a value of the relative luminous efficiency at that wavelength. 1, record 13, English, - relative%20luminous%20efficiency%20curve

1, record 14, French, - amplification%20de%20la%20lumi%C3%A8re%20par%20%C3%A9mission%20stimul%C3%A9e%20de%20radiations

When a light-emitting diode is forward-biased (switched on), electrons are able to recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence and the color of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy gap of the semiconductor. LEDs are often small in area (less than 1 mm), and integrated optical components may be used to shape their radiation pattern. 5, record 16, English, - light%2Demitting%20diode

2, record 24, French, - spectrophotom%C3%A8tre

The spectral sensitivity of a radiation detector is the ratio of the quantity characterizing the level of the detector’s response and the energy flux of the monochromatic radiation causing the response. A distinction is made between the absolute spectral sensitivity, which is expressed in units (for example, in amperes per watt if the detector’s response is measured in amperes), and the dimensionless relative spectral sensitivity, which is the ratio of the spectral sensitivity at a given wavelength to the maximum value of the spectral sensitivity or to the spectral sensitivity at some other wavelength. 3, record 25, English, - absolute%20spectral%20sensitivity

Particle sizes and distribution can be successfully measured using low angle laser light scattering (LALLS). This technique uses a light source of known wavelength to cause oscillation of the dipoles present in the particles. The electromagnetic energy released from these oscillating dipoles, known as secondary radiation, radiates out in all directions except along the axis of oscillation. The ratio between the wavelength of incident radiation and the particle size will determine the actual light scattering pattern from the particle. 3, record 37, English, - low%2Dangle%20laser%20light%20scattering

1, record 46, French, - nombre%20de%20franges

The lasing phenomenon is made possible by a process called the stimulated emission of radiation. This occurs when a photon interacts with an excited atom, causing it to drop down to a lower energy level. The photon given off by the atom then has the same phase, direction, and polarization as the initial photon. By repeating this process many times, one can produce a highly coherent beam of light. 3, record 47, English, - lasing%20phenomenon

6, record 69, French, - spectrophotom%C3%A8tre%20%C3%A0%20double%20faisceau
