Several thread suppliers sell spools of monofilament thread, which is very fine and comes in either nylon or polyester. Many quilters prefer polyester monofilament thread because it doesn't stretch as much as the nylon, and therefore isn't as likely to tangle. In addition, nylon thread doesn't do well in heat and it may discolor over time. Still, other quilters choose nylon [invisible] thread for its performance and say it looks the most like hand quilting. 4, record 1, English, - invisible%20thread

Unfortunately, gut usually costs in the $50-$60 range, so most players are content to use synthetic strings ... With synthetic strings now being produced with a wrapped or individually textured filament construction to simulate gut, and with metallic, silicon and Teflon coatings, today's strings have both increased durability and responsiveness ... Wilson Sweetspot synthetic which incorporates 15, 16, and 17-gauge string in a way that allows for the thinner more responsive 17-gauge thickness in the sweetspot area and the wider more durable 15-gauge string on the outside. 5, record 5, English, - gut%20string

Grâce à un sillon circulaire préalablement préparé, le lenticule peut s’incorporer dans un anneau limitant et être suturé par un surjet de monofilament. The difference between the filter mechanism established by thick geotextiles, compared with that established by thin geotextiles, is another drawback of strip drains. With the thin geotextile, the very fine soil particles initially pass through, leaving the large soil particles to bridge across the pore openings in the geotextile surface. This process induces a beneficial filter layer within the adjacent soil. In the case of the thick felt-like geotextiles used for strip drains the pore structure is complex and the soil particles do not readily pass completely through. 2, record 21, English, - thick%20geotextile

The basic elements of a geotextile are its fibers. There are three types of synthetic fibers, the filaments, the staples fibers, and the slit films: ... Slit films are flat tapelike fibers , typically 1 to 3 mm (40 to 120 mils) wide, produced by slitting with blades an extruded plastic film. After the slitting of the film, the tapelike fibers are drawn. As a result of the draw, molecules become oriented in the same direction and the strength of the fibers increases. 2, record 22, English, - slit%20film%20woven

Much work has been carried out recently on the production of textiles from film, in contrast to the more conventional method of producing man-made fibres by extruding a viscous liquid through a spinneret, and solidifying the continuous threads. A film is formed by extruding a viscous liquid through a long slit and not the conventional type of spinneret. This film can be transformed into a useable textile by many different processes, one example is the narrow tapes from a few millimetres to a few centimetres wide. 3, record 22, English, - slit%20film%20woven
