System of operation common in sub-machine-guns and in which the primer is struck and the cartridge is fired while the bolt is still moving forward. The explosion force has to stop the moving bolt before causing it to recoil, introducing a fractional delay between firing and breech opening, thus permitting the bullet to leave the barrel. This system absorbs some recoil energy and allows the bolt to be lighter. 2, record 1, English, - advanced%20primer%20ignition

Muscle contractions which result in movement are known as isotonic contractions. There are two types of isotonic muscle contraction: concentric and eccentric ... Eccentric contractions are the opposite of concentric contractions. The muscle contracts but increases in length. This type of contraction occurs usually in the direction of gravity, to control a movement. For example, using the same biceps curl exercise - as the arm is slowly straightened from the bent position, the Biceps Brachii muscle contracts eccentrically to control the downward movement and increase the angle at the joint. 2, record 34, English, - eccentric%20contraction

2, record 53, French, - inertie%20gyroscopique

The prone leg extension (PLE) test is used by therapists who manually palpate the posterior muscles and observe trunk kinematics in an attempt to identify deviations from a supposed optimal. A dysfunctional firing pattern is assumed to exist when postural muscles (hamstrings and erector spinae) initiate the movement and a delay in gluteus maximus firing is evident. As well, inconsistent or altered firing patterns are assumed to be indicative of dysfunction. While dysfunctions in the trunk are hypothesized to alter the optimal firing pattern, distal dysfunction (ankle sprain) is also theorized to influence the proximal order of optimal firing patterns. An ankle sprain or lower leg injury is theorized to result in "imbalances" in the firing pattern of proximal muscles due to the dysfunction of distal segments. 4, record 57, English, - firing%20pattern

Generally, the greater the wind speed then the greater the surface ocean current speed. The wind force acting on the surface of ocean is called wind stress and denoted by Tau. Wind stress acts in the direction of the wind on the surface. In contrast, pressure acts perpendicular to the surface. ... Wind stress [(tau)] is a force per unit area. [tau] = mass[star]acceleration/area. Units should be kg[star]/s²·/m² (Newton = kg[star]m/s²). So [tau] is in Newton/m². Ekman spiral effect ... It derives its name from the Swedish oceanographer Vagn Ekman (1874-1954). In the northern hemisphere, surface currents are deflected to the right of the wind direction. The surface current then drives the subsurface layer at an angle to its original deflection. Consequent subsurface layers are similarly affected, so that the effect decreases with increasing depth. The result is that most water is transported at about right-angles to the wind direction. Directions are reversed in the southern hemisphere. 1, record 82, English, - Ekman%20spiral%20effect

1, record 82, French, - d%C3%A9rive%20d%26rsquo%3BEkman

To recover from the microburst, the crew apply maximum power and pitch up toward an angle that can attain 15 degrees. The inertial acceleration (acceleration in reference to the ground, as opposed to acceleration within the airmass) experienced by the pilots, combined with the unstable attitude of the aircraft may cause a dangerous illusion. The pilots may believe that the aircraft has reached a very high excess energy and thus, try to pitch down or reduce the engine power. In reality, the aircraft performance is still low as it penetrates the energy-reducing downdraft and tailwind components of the microburst. 2, record 83, English, - inertial%20acceleration

Conventional airborne gravimeters are essentially one-axis instruments which determine the magnitude of gravity by using a highly accurate accelerometer in flight to measure the magnitude of gravity along the local vertical. Although horizontal accelerometers are used on the platform, they are generally of poorer accuracy and are only suitable for supporting the alignment process. They cannot give the direction of the vertical with comparable accuracy. Thus, the term scalar gravimetry is used in this case. This is different with airborne gravity systems based on the principle of measuring the specific force vector by a three-axes inertial system and the aircraft acceleration vector by differential GPS. In this case, the three accelerometers of the inertial system are of the same accuracy and the three acceleration components of the aircraft show only small differences in accuracy due to the geometry of the GPS constellation. Thus, three components of each vector can be estimated with high accuracy and the full gravity disturbance vector can be obtained by differencing the specific force and the aircraft acceleration vector. 2, record 99, English, - specific%20force%20vector

2, record 100, French, - direction%20invariante%20dans%20l%26rsquo%3Bespace
