Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The word radiation is commonly used in several distinct although related senses. - First, it is a term for the process by which energy is transferred and is able to exert an effect at a distance without the need for any physical connection between source and receiver. In this broad sense, radiation includes energy transfer both by electromagnetic waves (as in the case of gamma rays, ultra-violet rays or radio waves) and by energetic particles (such as alpha or beta particles emitted from nuclei in the process of radioactive decay). The more precise terms "electromagnetic radiation" and "particulate radiation" differentiate between these two phenomena. 2, record 1, English, - corpuscular%20radiation

4, record 1, French, - rayonnement%20corpusculaire
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 1, French, - rayonnement%20corpusculaire
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS

Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The first numerical weather prediction models used the quasi-geostrophic or Q-G approximation, which consists of using the geostrophic wind for the actual wind everywhere except when computing divergence. The Q-G approximation eliminates both sound and gravity waves as solutions to the equations of motion. The Q-G equations are often referred to as the filtered equations since they filter out sound and gravity waves. This allows a larger time step to be used, as well as eliminating the problem of balancing the initial conditions. 3, record 7, English, - filtered%20equation
