Nomography: The science of calculating charts. Its object is the general study of the representation, by means of diagrams called nomograms, of mathematical law (Gr. "nomos", "a law") which are expressed analytically by means of equations. Such graphical devices, once carefully drawn, yield the solutions of complicated problems with speed and slight labour.

Un nomograma, ábaco o nomógrafo es un instrumento gráfico de cálculo, un diagrama bidimensional que permite el cómputo gráfico y aproximado de una función de cualquier número de variables. En su concepción más general, el nomograma representa simultáneamente el conjunto de las ecuaciones que definen determinado problema y el rango total de sus soluciones.

[Un nomograma] consta de dos o más escalas dispuestas de modo que los resultados del cálculo puedan ser encontrados mediante una relación de punto en ellas.
