OBS

The CORE will be mandated to investigate allegations of human rights abuses linked to Canadian corporate activity abroad. The CORE will seek to assist wherever possible in collaboratively resolving disputes or conflicts between impacted communities and Canadian companies. It will be empowered to independently investigate, report, recommend remedy and monitor its implementation. The CORE's scope will be multi-sectoral, initially focussing on the mining, oil and gas, and garment sectors, with the expectation to expand within a year of the ombudsperson taking office to other business sectors.

Mandat de l'ombudsman canadien de la responsabilité des entreprises. L'ombudsman a le mandat d’examiner les allégations d’atteintes aux droits de la personne découlant des activités d’une entreprise canadienne à l'étranger, de formuler des recommandations, de faire le suivi de ces recommandations et de recommander l'imposition de mesures commerciales aux entreprises qui ne coopèrent pas de bonne foi, en plus de publier des rapports publics tout au long du processus d’examen. L'ombudsman se concentrera sur les secteurs des mines, du pétrole et du gaz et sur celui des vêtements.
