Satellites are electronic devices placed into orbit to monitor and examine regions which we can not observe from earth. These are used routinely to monitor atmospheric ozone, ultraviolet radiation, and many other constituents. Satellite altimetry and radar interferometry are used to measure magnetic field intensity and track Antarctic ice flow. 2, record 1, English, - atmospheric%20ozone

From the fuel itself, the engines also produce oxides of hydrogen, which include water, and which the chemists collectively dub HOx. Water itself does not destroy ozone, but the hydroxyl radical, HO, does, through a similar set of reactions to the ones involving NO. McDonald himself wasn't concerned about the effects of NOx on the stratosphere, but he began to be worried that HOx might have a serious effect on the ozone layer. 4, record 2, English, - hydridooxygen%26%23183%3B
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Another sink for ozone involves fragments of water molecules. Water vapor occurs naturally in the stratosphere, and water molecules are also split apart by ultraviolet rays, giving a collection of hydrogen atoms (H), hydroxyl radicals (HO) and hydroperoxyl radicals (HOO). Collectively they can be symbolized by HOx. These remove ozone (or oxygen atoms needed to make ozone). 5, record 2, English, - hydridooxygen%26%23183%3B

What is the lower atmosphere? The troposphere [and] the stratosphere ... What is the middle atmosphere? The mesosphere is the layer of neutral atmosphere below the thermosphere, extending from around 50 kilometers above the Earth's surface to around 80 kilometers. The composition of the lower and the middle atmosphere is remarkably constant up to around 70 kilometers, comprising approximately 78% Nitrogen, 20% Oxygen, and the remainder small quantities of Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Water Vapour, and traces of Helium, Neon, Krypton, Xenon, Methane and Hydrogen. The Ozone layer is at around 50 kilometers. 3, record 3, English, - middle%20atmosphere

2, record 3, French, - atmosph%C3%A8re%20moyenne
