3, record 5, French, - distillation%20membranaire

Although the terms "members of visible minorities" and "visible minorities" are used in legal and statistical contexts in Canada, they are considered outdated and can be inaccurate in a general context as they do not always reflect provincial, territorial or other regional demographic compositions in Canada. Also, the word "visible" suggests that being white is the standard and the word "minority" limits the concept to numbers, when it is in fact more often about the power that is held by a dominant group. 2, record 10, English, - members%20of%20visible%20minorities

Cribbing is essential in many extrication operations. Its most common use is to stabilize objects. Wood selected for cribbing should be solid, straight and free of major flaws such as large knots or splits. Cribbing surfaces should be free of any paint or finish because this can make the wood slippery, especially when it is wet. Cribbing can be made out of pieces of timber found in the debris and cut to size. ... Cribbing involves multiple pieces of wood laid on the side and crossed. It spreads the load well and has many load transfer surfaces. It also has lateral stability depending on the ratio of width to height. The second book of the set of works by the CIDECT [Committee International for the Development and the Study of Tubular construction] under the general title "Construction with Hollow Steel Sections" is dedicated to phenomena of instability: buckling, distortion, spreading. Because of the shape of its section and the particularly favourable distribution of matter in the straight section, a hollow profile, of circular or rectangular shape, behaves distinctly better than an open profile section under the demands of compression. In remaining within the limits of the relation of the diameter or the width of side divided by the thickness of partition, given in this dimensioning guide, the local hollow profile distortion can be disregarded. On the other hand, the resistance to spreading is, in practice, not verified because hollow profiles possess a distinctly larger polar rigidity than open section profiles. 1, record 39, English, - open%20section%20profile

2, record 39, French, - profil%20ouvert

In the case of a system with blade-angle adjustment, the electronic controller constantly measures the system's power output. If this is too high, a command is sent to the blade-adjusting system with the result that the rotor blades are moved slightly out of the wind. When the wind drops, the blades are turned into the wind. 5, record 71, French, - %C3%A9olienne%20aval

A licence differs in its essentials from an assignment. A licence, even though exclusive, does not give the licensee all the rights of the patentee. A licence does not set up rights as between the licensee and the public, but only permits him to do acts that he would otherwise be prohibited from doing. He obtains merely a right of user. ... A licence prevents that from being unlawful which, but for the licence, would be unlawful; it is a consent by an owner of a right that another person should commit an act which, but for that licence, would be an infringement of the right of the person who gives the licence. 7, record 80, English, - licence

The spelling licence, though still often met with, has no justification in the case of the substantive. In the case of the verb, on the other hand, although the spelling licence is etymologically unobjectionable, license is supported by the analogy of the rule universally adopted in the similar pairs of related words, practice sb., practise vb, prophecy sb., prophecy vb. ... Recent dictionaries, however, almost universally have license both for substantive and verb, either without alternative or in the first place. 8, record 80, English, - licence

Pole-zero cancellation (Tail cancellation) … we approximated the preamp output pulse as a step function, however, in a real preamp pulse, the falling tail is a long exponential decay instead of a simple step function. Consequently, there is a small amplitude undershoot starting at about 7τ. This undershoot decays back to baseline with the long time constant of the preamplifier. At medium to high counting rates, a substantial fraction of the amplifier output pulses will ride on the undershoot from a previous pulse. The apparent pulse amplitudes measured for these pulses will be significantly lower, which deteriorates the energy resolution. Most shaping amplifiers incorporate a pole-zero cancellation circuit to eliminate this undershoot. The benefit of pole-zero cancellation is improved peak shapes and resolution in the energy spectrum at high counting rates. 1, record 83, English, - %20pole%2Dzero%20cancellation%20circuit

Whereas many fully unsaturated rings are very nearly planar, their saturated or partially saturated analogs, containing tetrahedrally coordinated atoms, are necessarily three-dimensional. This frequently gives rise to a preferred orientation of the atoms in a molecule, differing from other possible orientations (conformers) by rotation about single bonds. Thus, cyclohexane exists predominantly in the chair form, although boat and twist forms of cyclohexanes are also known. 3, record 92, English, - boat%20conformation

2, record 98, French, - bosse
