As for any other behaviour, behaviour analysis approaches verbal behaviour functionally. Therefore, the study of verbal behaviour examines first and foremost the conditions under which verbal responses are produced and their effects, rather than their form (e.g. vocal or written responses) or their structure (e.g. grammatical classification). Therefore, gestures, sign language, images or symbols selection and writing can all be used and taught to communicate and may fully satisfy the definition of verbal behaviour in the same way as vocal language. 3, record 1, English, - verbal%20behaviour

Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Walnut wilt is a noninfectious disease which causes the sudden wilt and death of many plant species. The problem occurs in the beds of sensitive plants growing near walnut trees ... The cause is an active compound known as juglone produced by these trees. Juglone has been isolated from the roots, leaves, bark, and husks. The compound can also be found in a narrow zone in the soil surrounding the living roots. Because of this limited distribution of the toxin, the position of juglone producing roots underground is reflected in the pattern of wilting plants above ground ... Affected plants wilt suddenly and often show a browning of the vascular tissues just under the outer layers of the main stem ... Some plants with mild tolerance may show stunting, lack of flower development, and/or lack of vigor. 2, record 4, English, - walnut%20wilt

2, record 4, French, - fl%C3%A9trissure%20du%20noyer

The Yacon is a tall leafy plant with yellow daisy flowers. ... it produces large, dahlia-like tubers, which can be eaten raw and taste like a sweetish water chestnut. Like Jerusalem artichokes, their sugar is inulin, not sucrose. Their flavour is said to improve after the tubers have been exposed to the sun (Herklots). Yacon is native of Peru, and was eaten by the Incas and is now grown experimentally in New Zealand. 3, record 5, English, - yacon
