3, record 6, French, - nanotube%20de%20carbone%20de%20type%20%C2%ABpeapod%C2%BB

This moth, common in Great Britain and Canada's West Coast, is often found in combination with the brown house moth. It is usually considered to be more of a stored product pest and less of a scavenger than the latter. The worst infestations occur in grain, cereals, and stored seeds such as peas and beans. 1, record 35, English, - white%2Dshouldered%20house%20moth

The adult is easily recognized by its conspicuous white head and thorax. The forewings are greyish-white with darker areas. The males have a wing-spread of about 1.2 centimetres and the females about 2 centimetres. Most of the adults are females, each of which lays about 100 eggs. Like the brown house moth, the females vary in size and the larger females lay more eggs. The eggs, dull white in colour, are laid in cracks and crevices and often adhere together. The larva, which requires a relative humidity of at least 80% for development, is about 1.2 centimetres in length and waxy-white in colour. The head and adjoining portion of the back of the adult are reddish-brown. This moth has no dormant stage and under summer conditions and 90% relative humidity, the life of this species takes about 62 days. 1, record 35, English, - white%2Dshouldered%20house%20moth

1, record 35, French, - %26oelig%3Bcophore%20%C3%A0%20%C3%A9paulettes

... Rev. Gregor Mendel (1822-1884) ... grew peas, and saw that various traits (size, color, wrinkles) were passed from one generation to the next. Much more importantly, he saw that peas have pairs of some kind of hereditary factor. The pairs do not compromise with each other; either one or the other will be dominant. That is, if you cross a tall pea with a dwarf pea, you get some tall and some dwarf peas, but no peas of medium height. Further, in the first generation of cross-pollinated peas, they will all be tall, and in the next generation there will be three tall pea plants for every one dwarf. 2, record 44, English, - dwarf%20pea

To reduce storage losses in developing countries, protecting seeds by natural substances, which may be less toxic and less expensive than synthetic, may prove a worthwhile alternative. The present paper describes the results of laboratory testing of the effects of ester extracts of nine different plants against the cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus Fab.) and the rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzea L.). 1, record 53, English, - cowpea%20weevil

3, record 80, Spanish, - paella

These dark brown mottled peas are cooked and eaten in Lancashire county, England and not much anywhere else. They are commonly provided by mobile food vendors at fairs and other events as "Black Peas," sometimes served in cups with a little vinegar.
