The potato leaf roll virus is transmitted by certain aphids when they pierce the seed potato to feed on the sap. The potato leaf roll virus can be considered persistent because the aphid only becomes infectious after a latent period required for the passage of the virus through the insect's intestine and then through the salivary glands. 4, record 1, English, - potato%20leaf%20roll%20virus

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT

Virus Hiding Mechanism. Viruses use hiding mechanisms which allow them to replicate unnoticed, before delivering the "payload". This time delay before discovery is analogous to the incubation period in a biological disease, when the carrier of the disease is infectious, but does not exhibit any symptoms. 1, record 7, English, - virus%20hiding%20mechanism

1, record 7, French, - m%C3%A9canisme%20de%20camouflage%20d%26rsquo%3Bun%20virus
