The most commonly used procedure for estimating PMP (...). An index of the maximum possible moisture supply is obtained by entering tables of effective-precipitable water with the 100-yr. 12-hr. maximum-persisting dewpoint for the basin. Maximization is achieved by multiplying the observed rainfall values by the ratio of this figure to that for the air supplying the atmospheric moisture to the actual storm. 1, record 2, English, - rational%20method
