The Grain Appeal Tribunal is an independent Tribunal appointed by the Commission. It consists of a chairman, who is an officer of the Commission, and not more than eight other persons engaged in the grain industry. All must be fully qualified to inspect and grade grain. A quorum consists of the chairman and two other members selected by him. The Tribunal's function is to examine appeals by persons dissatisfied with the grade assigned by an inspector on an official sample. Their decision is final.

Le tribunal d’appel pour les grains est un tribunal indépendant nommé par la Commission. Il se compose d’un président, qui est également un fonctionnaire de la Commission, et d’au plus huit autres personnes œuvrant dans l'industrie céréalière. Tous doivent être qualifiés pour inspecter et classer le grain. Le président et deux autres membres choisis par lui forment le quorum. Le tribunal a pour fonction d’examiner les appels interjetés par des personnes qui ne sont pas satisfaites du grade attribué à leur grain par un inspecteur d’après un échantillon officiel. Sa décision est définitive.

Military judges adjudicate at courts martial and other military proceedings such as the judicial review of persons held in pre-trial custody. ... The requirement for military judges to be independent of the military chain of command was set out by the Supreme Court of Canada in 1992 in its decision in R.v. Genereux. The necessary judicial hallmarks of security of tenure, financial and institutional independence for military judges are guaranteed in the National Defence Act. Military judges are appointed by the Governor in Council for a fixed term of five years, which is renewable upon the request of the military judge. Military judges are only removable by the Governor in Council upon the recommendation of an independent Inquiry Committee.
