Dependency, in its most basic sense, refers to a reliance on a particular substance to function normally. This reliance may be driven by a physical need, wherein the body has adapted to the presence of the substance and requires it to avoid withdrawal symptoms. More broadly, it can also involve a psychological element, where the individual feels unable to cope without the substance, leading to a sense of attachment and habituation. 3, record 1, English, - dependence

alcohol use: The word "use" has been suggested to replace the word "abuse." In some contexts, it might be necessary to qualify it to distinguish between different types of use (for example, "harmful use," "hazardous use," "problematic use" or "risky use"). In this case and depending on the context, the reason for the chosen qualifiers should be explained, and the different designations clearly defined. However, some people prefer to avoid qualifying the word "use" as they see this as stigmatizing. 5, record 2, English, - alcohol%20use

6, record 2, French, - consommation%20d%26rsquo%3Balcool

Since young people feel that there is nothing to do and what there is costs money (movies, pool, bowling), hanging out and getting "loaded" is often seen as the only viable option. Understanding codependency: Many people have cared deeply about someone who had a chemical dependency. They may not have realized it, but their behaviors probably changed, too. Many became codependent. They compulsively reacted to the chemically dependent person's behavior and tried to control it. 4, record 7, English, - codependency
