Le triclosan est un produit de synthèse utilisé depuis plus de 30 ans comme anti-bactérien, antifongique, antiviral, antitartre et agent de conservation. La communauté scientifique et les groupes environnementaux contestent l'innocuité et le caractère inoffensif de cette substance. En effet, le triclosan peut perturber le fonctionnement de la thyroïde chez l'humain. De plus, il se dégrade en composés toxiques, cancérigènes, bioaccumulables et persistants.
