2, record 14, French, - chambre%20d%26rsquo%3B%C3%A9cho

Photons emitted in one region of a source may be partly absorbed by atoms at lower excitation levels in their passage through the plasma. Because of the fact that the absorption profile is of a similar shape to the emission profile, energy is preferentially absorbed from the central part of the emission line. Maximum absorption occurs at the centre of the line or central wavelength. The actual line profile of the transmitted radiation is changed as a result of the lowering of the maximum intensity. This is the cause of the increase in the apparent full width at half maximum. This is termed self-absorption broadening. 1, record 15, English, - self%2Dabsorption%20broadening

1, record 15, French, - %C3%A9largissement%20par%20autoabsorption

A cooling tower basically consists of an air circuit and a water circuit leading to a heat exchange vessel in which the air and water are brought into contact. By a stack effect, i.e. by natural draft, the cooling tower shell provides air circulation. When, as is the case with the wet cooling towers at EDF thermal and nuclear plants, the air and water are placed in direct contact in the heat exchange vessel, the hot air escaping from the shell is saturated with steam : mixing with the colder outside air produces by steam condensation a plume whose structure is similar to a natural cloud. 1, record 16, English, - wet%20cooling%20tower

1, record 16, French, - r%C3%A9frig%C3%A9rant%20humide
