Run-of-river power stations use the natural flow of river water to drive turbines. Although the head of water between the upstream and downstream sides is modest compared to storage power stations, the volume of water available is usually greater. Run-of-river power stations operate continuously. They meet basic electricity needs by supplying the steady underlying demand. The amount of electricity produced depends on the river's flow; they are generally more productive in summer than in winter. 9, record 6, English, - run%2Dof%2Dthe%2Driver%20hydroelectric%20plant

9, record 21, French, - centrale%20hydro%C3%A9lectrique%20%C3%A0%20r%C3%A9servoir

Natural convection, also called thermosyphoning, does not produce high flow. It cannot remove full power heat, but is adequate to remove decay heat. Natural convection occurs when cool D2O in the boiler tubes falls by gravity into the core. It displaces the hot, less dense D2O surrounding the fuel. The boilers cool the fluid pushed into them from the fuel channels, and it becomes more dense. The liquid that falls into the core expands on heating and becomes less dense. Thermosyphoning continues as long as the boilers continue to remove heat. 1, record 22, English, - natural%20convection

1, record 22, French, - convexion%20naturelle

Return Flow Pressure Atomizing Oil Burner. This burner is a modification of the pressure atomizing burner ... It has the advantage of wide load range for any given atomizer.... This wide range is accomplished through a return flow nozzle which has an atomizing swirl chamber just ahead of the orifice. Good atomization throughout the load range is attained by maintaining a high rate of oil flow and high pressure drop through the swirl chamber. The excess oil above the load demand is returned from the swirl chamber to the oil storage tank or to the suction of the oil pump. 1, record 34, English, - return%20flow%20nozzle

The vaporizing pot-type burner prepares the oil for burning by exposing it on the surface of a heated metal plate. The simplest form of this type of burner resembles a bucket with perforated sides and also has a top with a row of closely spaced holes or a slot. The pot-type burner, which can have either manual or automatic ignition, is used for firing space heaters and small central-heating furnaces. 4, record 35, English, - pot%20burner
