The health impact pyramid, a framework for public health action, postulates that addressing socioeconomic factors (tier 1, or the base of the pyramid) has the greatest potential to improve health. Interventions that change the context for individual behavior (tier 2) are generally the most effective public health actions; 1-time clinical interventions (tier 3), such as immunizations, can be more effectively applied than those requiring ongoing care; and clinical interventions (tier 4) are generally, although not inevitably, more effective than counseling and education (tier 5). 1, record 1, English, - health%20impact%20pyramid

Let's start ... with the basics by explaining the perfume pyramid … Imagine a pyramid. At the top of the pyramid, we find the top notes. [The] top notes evaporate to make way for the next part of the pyramid - the heart notes. Just as the name reveals, they make up the body and character of the perfume. They make a smooth transition from the perfume's top notes to the base notes. The base notes are a great part of the perfume's heart, but they also make the perfume long-lasting. 5, record 7, English, - perfume%20pyramid

A variation of basic pocket billiards played in championship competition. This game differs from basic pocket billiards chiefly in 2 respects. First, the player is required to designate both the ball he intends to pocket and the pocket. Failure to make the called shot is a miss and ends his inning. Second, once 14 balls have been pocketed, they are racked again. The player continues play by pocketing the 15th ball and caroming the cue ball into the racked balls or by driving a called ball from the racked balls into a pocket. Each time 14 balls have been pocketed, they are reracked and play continues to the end of the game. The number of points set for a game is usually 125 or 150. 1, record 11, English, - 14%2E1%20continuous

Related to the concept of an "ultimate" limit to length of life is the idea of compression of mortality. This term is invoked (e.g., Fries, 1980) to describe a population in which the proportion of people surviving to advanced ages begins to approach what is assumed to be a biologically (presumably genetic) predetermined age limit to human survival. At this limit, the survival curve "rectangularizes", although a mathematically precise formulation of what constitutes rectangularization is not yet available. There are, however, a general set of order relations for different types of "survival curves" that we can use graphically to illustrate rectangularization. 1, record 32, English, - rectangularization

I [Cory Holly] fashioned the Athlete's Food Pyramid to serve as a nutritionguideline for both performance and health with one important distinction. Health is first and foremost. By improving all aspects of health, you automatically improve performance, but you can enhance performance at the expense of health. ... The Athlete's Food Pyramid is comprised of filtered water, fresh juice, organic vegetables, organic fruits, cultured dairy products (preferably non-pasteurized), low-fat wild tissue proteins, whole grain starches and non-refined fresh live oils. Unlike other pyramids or food guides, it also includes dietary suppletments as a foundation. 1, record 42, English, - Athlete%27s%20Food%20Pyramid%C2%AE

Pyramid fire. This is the best of all campfires. Three or four logs about 3 ft. to 5 ft. long are laid side by side and across them another layer with, if you desire it, a third layer on top of these. On top of the top layer the starting fire is laid. This is built up finally like a small pyramid. This type of fire is lit at the top. the starter fire ignites the logs below with falling coals and so this fire burns down-wards. It radiates heat evenly all round, and requires no attention during the night. Also, because there is no falling in of the fire the risk of sparks spreading and starting a bushfire is greatly minimised. 1, record 43, English, - pyramid%20fire

1, record 43, French, - feu%20en%20pyramide

The other type of pearl net is the round pearl net. FACT SHEET: Racial Divide Continues to Grow ... Race or ethnic origin is a likely factor in determining who has access to computers and the Internet. Americans today are accessing the Internet with more regularity, and Black and Hispanic households are twice as likely to own computers today as they were in 1994. Yet, many race or origin groups are losing ground in computer and Internet connectivity when compared to the progress of Whites and those of Asian/Pacific Island descent. When holding income constant, Black and Hispanic households are still far less likely to have Internet access. 1, record 79, English, - racial%20divide

A graphic representation of such a distribution is known as an age pyramid [in which] ages are plotted on the vertical axis and the total numbers of males and females in each age category on the two horizontal semi-axes; the progressive narrowing of the pyramid as ages increase is due to the effects of mortality ... 5, record 82, English, - age%20pyramid

... the hardness test is widely used ... because it is relatively nondestructive ... Most hardness tests measure the resistance of the metal to penetration by a conical or spherical indentor. When a properly designed penetrator is forced into the material under a given load, an indentation is produced and the hardness is taken to be inversely proportional to the amount of indentation. 1, record 98, English, - hardness%20test

1, record 100, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20PECOM
