It was noted that total recreational catches recorded in 1992 exceeded the total recreational quota by 13%. The discrepancy between the quota and the actual catch ranged from zero to 23% ... Attention was also drawn to the discrepancy between angling catch estimates by traditional methods and catches estimated by the bus route creel survey method on the Humber River in 1992. Catch estimates based on the creel survey suggest that catches were actually twice as high as reported. These results question the utility of traditional catch and effort statistics collection methods in quota monitoring and in evaluating the effect of the closure of the commercial fishery on recreational fisheries harvests. 2, record 13, English, - bus%2Droute%20creel%20survey%20method

3, record 14, French, - Jeux%20Olympiques%20d%26rsquo%3Bhiver

As used in ordinary parlance, "cruelty" signifies a disposition to inflict suffering; to delight in or exhibit indifference to the pain or misery of others; mercilessness or hard-heartedness as exhibited in action. If in the marriage relationship, one spouse by his conduct causes wanton, malicious or unnecessary infliction of pain or suffering upon the body, the feelings or emotions of the other, his conduct may well constitute cruelty which will entitle a petitioner to dissolution of the marriage if, in the court's opinion, it amounts to physical or mental cruelty "of such a kind as to render intolerable the continued cohabitation of the spouses." 2, record 25, English, - cruelty

N. The technical problems involved in gene transfer therapy make heart transplant surgery look easy. Theoretically, recombinant DNA (inserting strands of DNA where they don't naturally occur) allows for gene transplantation. Realistically, it is extremely difficult. Researchers have yet to find a way to put a healthy gene into a human somatic cell. DNA is well protected within the cells. DNA writes codes for life, and life would change if DNA were altered. The cell views altered (mutant) DNA as foreign, just like the body views a donor heart. Just like the body has an immune system, the cell has defenses against mutant DNA. 2, record 77, English, - gene%20transplantation

2, record 82, French, - %C3%89tude%20sur%20l%26rsquo%3Bhumidit%C3%A9%20dans%20les%20r%C3%A9sidences%20secondaires

The fact that the word "status" does not restrict the statute in the manner proposed by the appellants is clear from the way the term has been qualified in the case law, and in the submissions of the parties. The very issue in this appeal has been characterized as whether s. 5(1) of the Code includes complaints based on "relative status" as opposed to "absolute status". The essence of the appellants' argument is that the ordinary meaning of the word "status" refers to an absolute condition; the inclusion of relative status within the scope of the definition would require the addition of a qualification. We cannot agree. The word "status" is equally capable of encompassing both the absolute definition and the relative definition. Moreover, the terms "marital status" and "family status" are in themselves relative. That is, they require the existence or absence of a relationship with another person. To restrict its meaning to the absolute would ignore the very condition that brings the status into being in the first place. 1, record 83, English, - relative%20status

1, record 83, French, - %C3%A9tat%20au%20sens%20relatif

Extracts from the Federal Heritage Buildings Policy. (Parks Canada). Designation of Federal Heritage Buildings. All federal buildings 40 years old or older for which alteration, demolition, or disposal are planned must be identified and referred to the Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office (FHBRO) for evaluation, in order to determine if the buildings have heritage value. Also to be evaluated are buildings 40 years old or older whose acquisition is being contemplated. The Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office will evaluate the identified buildings to determine if they merit heritage designation. Parks Canada will prepare research that addresses historical, architectural and environmental criteria, as well as any other relevant information, as a basis for this evaluation. A building evaluated as a heritage building will be recommended for designation as a "classified" or as a "recognized" federal heritage building. A classified building is the higher of these two designations. The Federal Heritage Buildings Review Office will convey the recommended designation (classified or recognized) to the custodial department. The recommendation will be accompanied by a statement of heritage character. A federal building which has been designated under this policy will be entered in the Register of Federal Heritage Buildings, along with a statement of its heritage character. 2, record 87, English, - statement%20of%20heritage%20character

Consent can be oral or written. That said, however, written consent is usually preferable and is the norm in practice. It is preferable because it can be used as evidence should a dispute about consent arise in the future. It is important to note that the mere fact of a patient's signature on a consent form does not constitute proof of consent. Instead, the content of the consent form can provide an evidentiary basis for conclusions about the content of the dialogue between the health care provider and the patient. 4, record 95, English, - evidence%20of%20consent
