The concept of due process is rooted in English common law and expressed in "Magna Carta", Art. 39 (1215), whereby the King promised that 'No freeman shall be taken or imprisoned or disseised or exiled or in any way destroyed ... except by the legal judgment of his peers or by the law of the land'. This was later interpreted to require trial by jury. 4, record 2, English, - due%20process%20of%20law
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
"Due process" is an imprecise and elastic term, the meaning of which varies with time and place. Basically, it suggests fundamental fairness and tries to apply that concept to all parts of the criminal process. The breadth of the concept depends upon the subjective view of the American courts, particularly the United States Supreme Court. In the last twenty years "due process" has included protections against self-incrimination, coerced confessions, illegal searches, denial of counsel or jury trial and unregulated eavesdropping. In the American system a judicial finding that law enforcement officials have offended due process will result in a complete exclusion of the impugned evidence and will usually result in the acquittal of the accused. 5, record 2, English, - due%20process%20of%20law

Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) is a serious and unusual food allergy to red (mammalian) meat. It occurs in people who have been bitten by certain types of ticks, usually if they've been bitten more than once. ... The saliva of some ticks contains a sugar molecule called alpha-gal (α-Gal). When alpha-gal enters the bloodstream, it can increase your sensitivity to red meat. This can trigger an immune system response. Your body reacts as if red meat is harmful, causing allergic symptoms. People with AGS may also react to other products containing alpha-gal, including medications and personal care products. 3, record 8, English, - alpha%2Dgal%20syndrome

3, record 37, French, - Lumi%C3%A8res

If a material is impervious to a chemical, then that chemical cannot readily penetrate through the material or damage the material. Different materials are impervious (resistant) to different chemicals. No single material is impervious to all chemicals. If an MSDS recommends wearing impervious gloves, you need to know the type of material from which the gloves should be made. For example, neoprene gloves are impervious to butyl alcohol but not to ethyl alcohol. 3, record 45, English, - impervious

5, record 45, French, - imperm%C3%A9able

A pathological condition in humans caused by the consumption of certain marine mussels or clams that have fed on planktonic dinoflagellates belonging to the genus Gonyaulax. The mussels or clams become contaminated with a neurotoxin produced by the dinoflagellates, and subsequent consumption by humans results in respiratory or gastrointestinal distress.

Due to their reflective properties, any mirrored lens will appear darker since it will reflect a certain amount of light trying to reach the eye. A mirrored lens will also add an extra buffer against glare. Mirrored or "Flash" lenses are available in a variety of different colours. Ottawa: Industry Canada, 1995. Occasional paper, No.13. "This paper focuses on... management education, training and development. It examines the contention that there are worrisome deficiencies in management skills in Canada. After briefly describing the context within which this challenge to competitiveness arises, the question of adequacy is addressed. Evidence that suggests deficiency is presented, and the particular problems of small- and medium-sized enterprises are highlighted. The hypotheses that Canada lacks a training culture and that management development is not an integral part of doing business in Canada, are examined." --Introduction and outline. 1, record 73, English, - Management%20Skills%20Development%20in%20Canada

Ottawa : Industrie Canada, 1995. Document hors série, no. 13. »--Introduction et aperçu de l'étude. 1, record 73, French, - Le%20perfectionnement%20des%20comp%C3%A9tences%20des%20cadres%20au%20Canada

Immunité antitumorale. It is a much disputed question in the teaching of legal authorities and in the jurisprudence of the principal countries whether the doctrine of litispendance, the object of which is to prevent the possibility of conflicting judgments, can be invoked in international relations, in the sense that the judges of one State should, in the absence of a treaty, refuse to entertain any suit already pending before the courts of another State, exactly as they would be found to do if an action on the same subject had at some previous time been brought in due form before another court of their own country. 1, record 82, English, - litispendance
