Le fil de fer doit être tendu pour que le grillage ait une bonne tenue. On utilise des raidisseurs à cran d’arrêt(ou tendeurs), qui se placent au niveau du poteau d’extrémité ou à la jonction de deux fils. Avec un raidisseur classique, la tension est obtenue par vissage d’un écrou à la clé à molette. On utilise également des tendeurs à crochets à tige.
