Although sometimes found in stagnant water, apple snails are more common in lakes and rivers where the water is clear and high in oxygen. These large, herbivorous snails usually breathe with their gills, but they can also obtain oxygen from the air through a lunglike structure in the mantle. After mating, a female apple snail lays masses of 1/4-inch eggs on plant stems and low branches near water. The young snails drop into the water after hatching. 1, record 6, English, - apple%20snails

2, record 13, French, - Leucaena%20leucocephala

Plants with limbs that grow down, instead of up, can be spectacular. Horticulturally, the reason for this growth habit is a genetic mutation. Most plants have a central growth point that remains dominant, and the trunk and limbs grow vertically. In the weeping tree category, this growth control is interrupted. The new layer of growth is somehow superimposed over the previous layer, and is more horizontal than vertical. This growth pattern is known as plagiotropism. 1, record 43, English, - weeping%20tree

1, record 67, French, - rouille%20suisse%20des%20aiguilles
