Nom d’une région, «la Mauricie» ou «région de la Mauricie» ou «région de la rivière Saint-Maurice», en soi un lieu non habité; spécifique dans «parc national de la Mauricie(Qc) », un parc national géré par Parcs Canada. Seul «Mauricie» figure au Répertoire, d’où la minuscule à l'article «la» dans le toponyme français; le même article en tête de toponyme commande la majuscule en anglais. De même, en début de ligne ou dans une liste en français, on écrira :«La Mauricie». Strictement parlant, la Mauricie est cette région de la rive nord du Saint-Laurent qui, depuis Trois-Rivières jusqu'aux confins laurentidiens de l'Abitibi et du Lac-Saint-Jean, correspond à peu près au bassin hydrographique du Saint-Maurice; c'est pourquoi d’ailleurs la région administrative de la Mauricie--Bois-Francs a été longtemps connue sous le nom de «Région du Saint-Maurice», désignée pour la première fois «Mauricie» en 1933 par monseigneur Albert Tessier. «Mauricie» vient de «Saint-Maurice», toponyme qui s’est imposé dans les années 1730-1740 pour désigner la rivière; il a été attribué en l'honneur de Maurice Poulin qui y détenait une seigneurie. 4, record 9, French, - Mauricie
