The second step is to create a downlink schedule. Each SAR data acquisition must either be downlinked to a ground receiving station as it is being acquired or saved to the onboard data recorder for later downlink. The duration and start times of the downlink windows vary from orbit to orbit, and all the recorded data must be downlinked within a single window (the recorder is effectively erased after each downlink). The downlink schedule specifies for each acquisition whether it will be downlinked in real time or stored to the data recorder and specifies the downlink window in which the recorded data will be transmitted. 2, record 1, English, - SAR%20data%20acquisition

3, record 1, French, - acquisition%20des%20donn%C3%A9es%20SAR

Cospas: Russian words "Cosmicheskaya Sistyema Poiska Avariynich Sudov", meaning Space System for the Search of Vessels in Distress. Sarsat: Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking. Cospas-Sarsat is a satellite system designed to provide distress alert and location data to assist search and rescue (SAR) operations, using spacecraft and ground facilities to detect and locate the signals of distress beacons operating on 406 Megahertz (MHz) or 121.5 MHz. The position of the distress and other related information is forwarded by the responsible Cospas-Sarsat Mission Control Center (MCC) to the appropriate SAR authorities. Its objective is to support all organizations in the world with responsibility for SAR operations, whether at sea, in the air or on land. 1, record 2, English, - Cospas%2DSarsat%20International%20Satellite%20System%20for%20Search%20and%20Rescue

1, record 2, French, - Syst%C3%A8me%20international%20Cospas%2DSarsat%20de%20satellites%20pour%20les%20recherches%20et%20le%20sauvetage
