Par tradition, le secrétaire à la Justice est souvent appelé Attorney General. Cette appellation est souvent utilisée en français, bien qu'il ne soit pas erroné de dire secrétaire à la Justice. Notons, cependant, que l'Attorney General exerce essentiellement les fonctions de ministre de la Justice, avec aussi certaines attributions propres à un procureur général. The Committee of Deputy Ministers of Official Languages (CDMOL), chaired by the Deputy Minister of Justice, consists of twelve more members, including the Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board and the Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage.
