In order to model the progress of an epidemic in a large population, the population diversity must be reduced to a few key characteristics which are relevant to the infection under consideration. For example, for most common childhood diseases that confer long-lasting immunity, it makes sense to divide the population into those who are susceptible to the disease, those who are infected and those who have recovered and are immune. These subdivisions of the population are called compartments ... The SIR model labels these three compartments S = number susceptible, I =number infectious, and R =number recovered (immune). This is a good and simple model for many infectious diseases including measles, mumps and rubella. 4, record 22, English, - susceptible%2Dinfected%2Drecovered%20model

[The Kermack-McKendrick model] was proposed to explain the rapid rise and fall in the number of infected patients observed in epidemics such as the plague (London 1665-1666, Bombay 1906) and cholera (London 1865). It assumes that the population size is fixed (i.e., no births, deaths due to disease, or deaths by natural causes), incubation period of the infectious agent is instantaneous, and duration of infectivity is same as length of the disease. It also assumes a completely homogeneous population with no age, spatial, or social structure. 3, record 22, English, - susceptible%2Dinfected%2Drecovered%20model

3, record 27, Spanish, - Real%20Polic%C3%ADa%20Montada%20de%20Canad%C3%A1

The National Anthem of Canada. -- "O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee." O Canada, we stand on guard for thee." -- "O Canada" was proclaimed Canada's national anthem on July 1, 1980, one hundred years after it was first sung on June 24, 1880. The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée, a well-known composer; French lyrics to accompany the music were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The song gained steadily in popularity. Many English versions have appeared over the years. The version on which the official English lyrics are based was written in 1908 by Mr. Justice Robert Stanley Weir. The official English version includes changes recommended in 1968 by a Special Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Commons. The French lyrics remained unaltered. 2, record 28, English, - O%20Canada

The Medical Council of Canada was the dream of Sir Thomas Roddick, who pursued his vision of a national medical licensing standard within Canada, through legislation, for over 18 years. His persistence in passing a bill through Parliament known as the Canada Medical Act, followed by amendments that gave the provinces the power to grant licenses, resulted in the formation of the Medical Council of Canada in 1912. Since then, the Medical Council has been responsible for promoting a uniform standard of qualifiation to practice medicine for all physicians across Canada. The qualifitcation, known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC), remains acceptable to provincial medical regulatory authorities. This ensures portability across the nation, while continuing to guarantee that each province and territory maintains the right to grant the license to practice medicine. 1, record 51, English, - The%20Medical%20Council%20of%20Canada

2, record 58, French, - hydrate%20de%20gaz

Ballistite is a double-base powder used as a rocket propellant. It is composed of two explosive substances, nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin, blended together with diphenylamine, which acts as a stabilizer. It burns with a considerable amount of flash and smoke, and generates a great volume of gas. Ballistite burns progressively, but at a rate dependent upon the composition and physical characteristics of the powder grain, the temperature of the powder grain before ignition, and the pressure during reaction. It is produced in various shapes to fit the rocket motor housing. 2, record 59, English, - ballistite

SIR ... stands for Standard Interface Rack. SIR is a system for integrating hardware. It is a technology we use to take Earth things to space. The rack contains mechanical parts, called a liner, used to slide drawers in and out, much like a file cabinet. Drawers are used to contain or repackage things and make them flight ready. For example, we can't take computers to space in the same outer packages or cases we use on Earth because some pieces may float out or the vibration from launch would destroy them. So, we take all the computer's guts from the central processing unit (its brain) and repackage it in one of these drawers. On the rack side, the SIR also provides power and data for the drawers through cables. Power for a drawer comes from a connector in the rack, just like a wall outlet at your house. Data cables serve many purposes, but the main one is for communication. This is so drawers can "talk" to each other, the Space Station, and Earth. For the computer drawer mentioned above, parts are wired to connectors in the drawer. When you slide the drawer into the rack, it connects to cables already in the rack. 2, record 69, English, - standard%20interface%20rack

There are 20 different trails in Glacier National Park with 13 of them in the Rogers Pass area much suited to day hiking. So plan a trip, camp at Illecillewaet Campground, and enjoy the Mountains. Some of the trails in this area are steep shortly after leaving the trailhead, but eventually grade lessens and you are rewarded with spectacular views of distant peaks and icefields. These two trails follow the same path initially and then split just after crossing 2 creeks. The left fork, the Sir Donald Trail, continues up to the base of Mount Sir Donald with excellent views of the nearby Vaux Glacier. If you look way up on the left-hand skyline of Mount Sir Donald, you may catch glimpses of climbers as they ascend the famous Northwest Ridge. This trail is 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) long with an elevation gain of 915 metres (3000 feet) and takes 1.5-2.5 hours one way. 1, record 75, English, - Sir%20Donald%20Trail
