Ionisation par désorption de plasma252 CF(...) On utilise des fragments de fission de l'isotope 252 du californium pour vaporiser et ioniser l'échantillon. Chaque fission du252 Cf, produit deux fragments dirigés en sens opposés(...) L'un d’eux passe à travers un film fin de Mylar(...) aluminisé sur lequel une solution de l'échantillon solide a été déposée. Celui-ci est désorbé et ionisé par un mécanisme faisant intervenir des transferts d’électrons avec la surface du support. Chaque fission engendre une dizaine d’ions et il se produit 2 500 fissions par seconde. Les ions sont séparés par un analyseur à temps de vol. L'autre fragment de fission est détecté par un scintillateur couplé à un photomultiplicateur. Il provoque le balayage synchrone de l'analyseur à temps de vol.
