Wood I-joists, as their name describes, are I-shaped. The central portion (Web) of the I is made of plywood or OSB, and the wider, upper and lower portions (flanges) are made of long lengths of LVL or high quality lumber. Wood I-joists are used as joists and rafters where long length and high strength are requirements.

Les solives en I préfabriquées, sont, comme leur nom l’indique, en forme de I majuscule. La partie centrale (l’âme) du I est faite de contreplaqué ou de panneau OBS, tandis que les extrémités supérieures et inférieures (les semelles) sont faites de panneaux LVL ou de bois massif de qualité supérieure. Elles sont utilisées comme solives et chevrons lorsqu’on a besoin de matériaux de longue portée et de grande résistance.
