The economy exists entirely within society, because all parts of the human economy require interaction among people. However, society is much more than just the economy. Friends and families, music and art, religion and ethics are important elements of society, but are not primarily based on exchanging goods and services. Society, in turn, exists entirely within the environment. Our basic requirements -- air, food and water -- come from the environment, as do the energy and raw materials for housing, transportation and the products we depend on. Finally, the environment surrounds society. At an earlier point in human history, the environment largely determined the shape of society. Today the opposite is true: human activity is reshaping the environment at an ever-increasing rate. The parts of the environment unaffected by human activity are getting smaller all the time. 2, record 7, English, - human%20economy

2, record 17, French, - physique%20math%C3%A9matique

In conducting fatigue tests, several specimens are run at various loads or stress levels to determine the number of stress cycles to cause failure. These results are then plotted as a logarithmic or semi-logarithmic graph in which stress (S) is the ordinate and the number of cycles (N) the abscissa. The curves obtained are generally called S-N curves. Caution: "restraint" and "constraint" are only synonyms if they are used figuratively to denote the means of preventing one from doing something, such as in the expressions "social constraints" or "social restraints". In other instances, because of the quirks of usage, they cannot be used interchangeably. "Restraint", in particular, is a highly polysemous term. It can denote a device that restricts movement (= restraining device); it can denote the control over one's expression, emotions or urges, i.e. moderation (DE: Mäßigung) in addition to the figurative definition already cited in this observation. "Constraint" is strictly an abstract term and can have the same figurative meaning as "restraint" cited above or it can have the slightly stronger meaning of repressing (and not simply controlling) one's own feelings, behavior, or actions. 3, record 25, English, - constraint

1, record 39, French, - fluage%20APIC

Irradiation-Induced Stress Corrosion Cracking of Austenitic Stainless Steels. In recent years, failures of reactor internal components have been observed after the components have reached neutron fluence levels ... The general pattern of the observed failures indicates that as nuclear plants age and fluence increases, various apparently nonsensitized austenitic stainless steels become susceptible to intergranular failure ... Irradiation produces defects and defect clusters in grain matrices and alters the dislocation network, dislocation loop, and dislocation channel structures, leading to radiation-induced hardening. Irradiation also leads to changes in the stability of second-phase precipitates and the local chemistry near grain boundaries, precipitates, and defect clusters. 2, record 40, English, - irradiation%2Dassisted%20stress%20corrosion

The terms "rape" and its explanation "forced sexual intercourse", found in several texts, are both legally vague in that one does not know to what degree the victim was abused sexually. One might ask oneself, was the victim mistreated sadistically? Was the act premeditated? Furthermore, the related term "sexual assault" is not a precise synonym of "forced sexual intercourse", because technically one can assault someone else without performing coitus. "Rape" does not necessarily imply sexual intercourse. 3, record 68, English, - forced%20sexual%20intercourse

3, record 68, French, - relations%20sexuelles%20forc%C3%A9es

Duplex stainless steels, consisting of approximately equal amounts of austenite and ferrite, often combine the best features of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. They generally have good mechanical properties, including high strength and ductility, and the corrosion resistance is often better than conventional austenitic grades. This has lead to a growing use of duplex stainless steels as a material in mechanically loaded constructions. However, detailed knowledge regarding its mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms are still lacking. In this project special emphasis has been placed on the residual stresses and their influence on mechanical behaviour of duplex stainless steels. Due to the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between the two phases, tensile microstresses are found in the austenitic phase and balancing compressive microstresses in the ferritic phase. 2, record 82, English, - austenitic%20phase

3, record 82, French, - phase%20aust%C3%A9nitique
