La résolution enzymatique est une technique dérivée de la résolution cinétique. Le composé permettant la discrimination entre les énantiomères est une enzyme. Cette enzyme catalyse, elle aussi une réaction chimique réversible et, cela, à des vitesses différentes pour chaque énantiomère. Il est possible également que l'enzyme ne catalyse pas la réaction avec un des énantiomères, dans ce cas la technique donne ses meilleurs résultats. La grande différence par rapport à la résolution cinétique est que les enzymes n’ existent que sous une forme qui est spécifiquement plus réactive pour un des énantiomères.
