The BIOLIFTTM process uses the technique of fixed bacteria on a fluidized bed. The purifying biomass is caught on grains of sand which are maintained in fluidization by an upward air flow. The reactor is situated downstream of an activated sludge tank and ensures nitrification of the effluent. At its outlet a recirculation loop channels some of the mixed liquor back to the activated sludge tank-head where the nitrates are broken down into gaseous nitrogen (denitrification). The remaining mixed liquor is channelled towards the clarification stage where the purified water is separated from the sludge. 2, record 4, English, - fixed%20bacterium

Alcohol septal ablation is a procedure used to treat obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). It is a minimally invasive procedure performed when severe symptoms cannot be controlled with drugs. In obstructive HCM, the wall (septum) between the heart’s ventricles thickens until it interferes with blood flow to the body. Alcohol septal ablation creates a tiny, managed heart attack in the abnormally thickened heart tissue. The damaged tissue dies and is replaced by thinner scar tissue, restoring blood flow out of the heart. 1, record 9, English, - alcohol%20septal%20ablation

4, record 21, French, - extrusion%2Dsoufflage

Early elevators were 9.1 metres long by 9.4 metres wide, ranged from 15.2 metres to 18.2 metres in height and had a storage capacity of about 680 tonnes. Cement piers were used to raise them slightly off the ground to allow for ventilation and help control rodents. They were built with 5.1 by 15.2 centimetre wooden planks and 5.1 by 10.2 centimetre wooden planks. The 2 x 6's were placed flat side up, one on top of each other and securely nailed with spikes to give strength. This procedure was used for the lower part of the elevator; 2 x 4's were then used in a similar manner until the top of the elevator was reached. This method of construction became known as cribbing. 1, record 22, English, - cribbing%20method

A technique used to stabilise fine-grained soils or coarser soils where normal methods of groundwater control might cause stability problems, to allow of excavation below the water table. Arkenol Acid Hydrolysis Process. Strong acids are used in the pretreatment and hydrolysis of the feed stock, separating cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin components. The acid/sugar solution is separated by a proprietary resin technology, and the acids are recirculated and reconcentrated. Any acids remaining are neutralized to form gypsum. The processes major advantages included reduced acid use, reduced gypsum production, reduced inhibitive product production, and higher ethanol yields. Retort technology ... charcoal processes ... The Lambiotte continuous carbonization process is related to the multi-stage type reactor .... Wood is fed continuously through a vertical cylinder into a retort. There, it undergoes three different treatments, moving slowly down to the bottom of the retort. In the first, it is dried, in the second, the charcoal process takes place, and in the third, charcoal is cooled. For the drying stage, pyroligneous gases are removed from the carbonization zone and fanned to the drying zone where they burn with a controlled supply of air. For the cooling stage, gases are removed from under the carbonization stage, where tars have been cracked, and reinjected at the bottom of the retort after having crossed a water cooled system. The sufficiently cooled charcoal is extracted from the bottom of the retort. The level of raw material inside the retort is kept at the maximum height possible. The excess of gas (50%) is generally flared off but can be directed through a by-product recovery system as for the Sific process. The process is fully automated. 1, record 29, English, - Lambiotte%20continuous%20carbonization%20process
