CONT

Double-leg raise test. This is a two-phase test: (1) The patient is placed supine, and a straight-leg-raising [SLR] test is performed on each limb: first on one side, and then on the other. (2) The SLR test is then performed on both limbs simultaneously; ie, a bilateral SLR test. If pain occurs at a lower angle when both legs are raised together than when performing the monolateral SLR maneuver, the test is considered positive for a lumbosacral area lesion.

Key term(s)
  • double straight leg raising test
  • double leg raising test

French

Domaine(s)
  • Méthodes diagnostiques (Médecine)
  • Appareil locomoteur (Médecine)
  • Physiothérapie
  • Chiropratique
OBS

CONT

The arbitrator found no causal relationship based on inconsistencies in the records of the treating physicians. Primarily, this concerned inconsistencies with the petitioner’s complaints of pain in his legs. He initially had a negative bilateral straight leg raise test. A few weeks later another doctor described a positive bilateral straight leg raise at 40 degrees.

OBS

Negative results provided by the bilateral straight leg raise test indicate no motion problem in the lumbar region.

OBS
